Harriet was not born into a horsey family, although they have always supported her 'horse madness'. A five year old Harriet insisted on riding lessons having seen her grandfather work as a cameraman for the BBC at Hickstead. Showjumping was always her first love, and she quickly progressed from the local riding school and unaffiliated events to competing BSJA ponies for Gary Jones. Whilst riding for Gary, Harriet trained with Sarah Skelton and Tina Goosen, and when she moved onto horses she continued to train with Bina Ford.
Harriet always loved teaching, and combined university life with horses by attending Hartpury College on a Showjumping scholarship, where she gained valuable qualifications including a Masters degree in Coaching Science and her BHS examinations. Harriet has extensive lecturing experience at Diploma, Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels.
Harriet adores her quirky 'Can't quite retire' Grade B showjumper Wiston Badger, and after being based at Foxhill Sports Horses with Michaela Webb in Northants, she has recently relocated back to the family home in Somerset. She trains in both dressage and showjumping with Pammy Hutton and John Thelwall.
